until sundown

watching the sun set on anything can be bittersweet, be it a day, a year, or a life chapter. change and darkness can spur feelings of discomfort and disquiet, temporary though they may be.

but sunsets hold a secret sweetness, as potent as their parting colors.

like the year’s shortest day and winter marching toward spring, from the moment the light falls behind the rim of the world, it’s already on its way back to us.

the time between is ours to do with what we will.
